A Champion Quick-Lock fitting plug closes off a tube end or an unused fitting leg at the full 220 PSIG rating of the system. It is the part that lets you finish a run today and extend it next year without cutting anything.
Sizes 20mm through 63mm are nickel-plated brass. The 14mm plug is Champion's plastic push plug, which suits the lighter 14mm bench and station runs.

Ideal Applications
Terminating the end of a main at the far wall, blanking the spare leg of a tee you installed for a machine that has not arrived yet, capping a stub during a phased install so the rest of the shop can run, isolating a damaged branch until it can be repaired, and leaving deliberate future take-off points in a new system. Plugging stubs is the cheapest way to make a system expandable, and it is what separates a piping job that was planned from one that was improvised.
Plan the System to Grow
The thing plants regret about a compressed air main is never that they left too many capped stubs. It is that the main is undersized and there is nowhere to tie in. When we lay out a Quick-Lock system we usually put a plugged tee where the floor plan looks likely to change: the end of a bay, the edge of an area earmarked for a second cell, the point where a future dryer or receiver would land. A plug costs between eight and sixty-five dollars. Cutting into a live main later costs a shutdown.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the plug go into a fitting or onto the tube?
Into a fitting. The plug has the same calibrated profile as a tube end, so it pushes into any Quick-Lock union, elbow or tee leg of that size and is retained and sealed exactly as the tube would be.
How do I cap a bare tube end with nothing on it?
Put a straight union connector on the tube and plug the open end of the union. That gives you a sealed termination you can open later by pulling the plug.
Is the 14mm plastic plug as strong as the brass ones?
It is the plug Champion publishes for 14mm, and 14mm is the only size where the tube itself is a push-lock connection needing no torque. For anything heavier than a bench or station run, you are in 20mm and up and therefore in brass.
Can I pressure test with plugs installed?
Yes, and that is the normal way to commission a system before the drops are finished. Follow Champion's test procedure: raise pressure in 15 psig increments, hold ten minutes at the first step, inspect for leakage and joint slippage, and never exceed 220 psig.
Can I remove a plug while the line is pressurized?
No. Isolate and bleed the section first. A plug released under 125 PSIG is a projectile.
Can I reuse a plug?
Yes. Loosen the fitting's compression nut one to one and a half turns, push the plug in, then pull it out. Check the o-ring before you reuse it.
