Industrial Air Motors by Atlas Copco

Shop the full range of Atlas Copco air motors — reliable, application-specific pneumatic motors engineered to make your design the safe bet. The air motor is one of the toughest and most versatile power units available to today's design engineer: it's easy to control over a wide speed range, delivers maximum torque at start-up when it's needed most, and can stall without damage. Whether you're building a hand-held tool, a portable piece of equipment, or a fixed-plant installation, Atlas Copco delivers the seamless integration, robust CAD data, and expert support you need to specify with confidence.

Three proven air motor technologies, 0.1 kW to 6.5 kW

This collection covers every Atlas Copco air motor family in one place — vane, turbine, and piston — so you can match the technology to the application:

  • LZB Vane Air Motors — the most versatile vane range in the toolkit, with a slim-line design that solves space constraints, high starting torque, and lube-free operation. Available in stainless steel for harsh, corrosive environments. Sizes include LZB14, LZB22, LZB33, LZB34, LZB42, LZB46, LZB54, LZB66, and LZB78, with clockwise, counter-clockwise, fully reversible, low-speed reversible, and brake-equipped configurations.
  • LZL Direct-Drive Vane Air Motors — six-vane motors engineered for outstanding starting and low-speed performance, delivering 0.41 kW to 6.5 kW with stall torque from 3.3 Nm to 40 Nm (up to 3,738 Nm when paired with helical gearing). Lubrication free, ATEX certified, and available in stainless steel. Includes LZL03, LZL05, LZL15, LZL25, and LZL35 motors plus 2-, 3-, and 4-stage helical gearbox combinations across Type-A and Type-B interfaces.
  • TZB Turbine Air Motors — unmatched power-to-weight ratio for tight spaces, with an integrated speed governor that maintains constant speed under load. Ideal for machining, pumps, starters, and robotics. Includes TZB25 turbine motors in ¾″ and 1″ shaft variants, clockwise and counter-clockwise.
  • PZB Piston Air Motors — precise control at low speeds (below 500 rpm) for stop/start tasks. Well suited to mixing, conveyors, printing presses, labelling, automated inspection and sorting, and slow-rotation displays such as hose reels. Includes PZB09, PZB15, and PZB21 reversible piston motors in aluminum, extended-bearing, and stainless steel builds with standard keyed shafts, IEC, NEMA, and bearing flange options.

Why engineers choose Atlas Copco air motors

  • Guaranteed integration — reliable motors backed by complete CAD data to de-risk your design
  • High starting torque — full torque at zero rpm eliminates extra gearing and reduces machine weight
  • Wide, easy speed control — throttle or regulate inlet pressure to dial in performance (down to 50% for LZB, 10% for LZL)
  • Stall-safe operation — unlike electric motors, air motors can stall indefinitely without damage or overheating
  • Lube-free and low-maintenance — long service life with few moving parts; ATEX-certified options for hazardous areas
  • Stainless steel available — corrosion-resistant builds for food, pharmaceutical, marine, and chemical environments
  • Future-proof, adaptable — modular designs that flex to your next project without hidden cost

Built for hand-held, portable, and fixed-plant applications

Choose hand-held models for portable tools where high power-to-weight ratio drives maneuverability. Specify portable air motors for equipment that moves between sites and benefits from simple speed control. For fixed-plant machinery requiring continuous rotation or rotary actuation, Atlas Copco air motors are a superior choice to electric motors — they stall without damage and deliver the reliability demanding applications require.
