Electric Compressor Motors 5 to 7.5 HP

Electric air compressor motors from 5 to 7.5 HP. This is the busiest horsepower band we sell into, because it covers most serious shop compressors: the two-stage machines on 60, 80 and 120 gallon tanks, and the smaller rotary screw packages.

It is also the band where voltage gets interesting. Motors in this range show up in single phase and three phase, and in several voltage combinations, so the first thing to confirm is what your building actually supplies. A three phase motor is generally the better machine at this size if you have three phase power available, and if you do not, the single phase version is what you want rather than a converter.

Match horsepower, speed, frame size, shaft diameter and enclosure against the motor you are replacing. Compressor duty motors are built for high starting torque and repeated starts, which is why substituting a general purpose motor of the same horsepower can leave you with a machine that trips on startup.
