Champion Quick-Lock is a solid aluminum compressed air piping system that installs with hand tools and no welding, gluing or threading. Each length of tube is extruded from marine-grade 6063 aluminum, powder coated inside and out, and joined with nickel-plated brass lock-and-seal fittings. The bore stays smooth and the same diameter for the life of the system, which is the one thing black iron cannot promise.
This listing is the tubing itself, in sizes from 14mm (1/2 in) to 63mm (2-1/2 in) and in all four Champion application colors. Fittings, brackets, valves and tools are ordered separately.

Color Codes the Whole Trade Reads
Champion extrudes the same tube in four colors so a plant's services are identifiable at a glance, with no labeling to fade or peel. The aluminum, the wall and the fittings are identical; only the finish changes.
| Color | Service | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| Blue | Compressed Air | The standard shop air main and drops |
| Green | Nitrogen | Runs from a nitrogen generator to the bays or the process |
| Grey | Vacuum | Vacuum headers, down to -0.99 bar |
| Black | Inert Gas | Argon, CO2 and other inert gas distribution |
Blue is also available with custom ink, which is Champion's factory-printed legend on the tube. Specify your text when you order; custom ink is a made-to-order item.
Model Selection Chart
Flow rates below are Champion's published figures at a 1 psi pressure drop per 100 ft of tube and couplings in a straight run (65 ft for 14mm). In a loop system these flows can be doubled.

How This Tubing Is Packaged
- 16 ft lengths in every size and color. This is the standard stick and what most of this listing sells.
- 14mm 10 Pack, ten 8 ft lengths, 80 ft total.
- 14mm 20 Pack, twenty 8 ft lengths, 160 ft total.
Champion lists the 14mm multi-packs as NOT BRANDED in every color, so the tube in a pack carries no printed legend. If you need branded 14mm, order the 16 ft length instead. Shipping weights on the multi-pack variants are the full pack weight, not the per-stick weight.

Why Aluminum Instead of Black Iron
Compressed air piping is not a neutral component. Its material, age and condition decide both what reaches the tool and what it costs to get there.
- Iron rusts and the bore closes up. Scale builds on the inside wall, the functional diameter shrinks, pressure drop climbs, and the rust itself becomes the contamination your filters and dryer were bought to remove. Aluminum does not corrode, so a Quick-Lock main flows the same on year fifteen as on day one.
- One-tenth the weight of the same diameter steel. Two people and a lift handle what used to take a crew.
- No hot work. No welding permit, no fire watch, no threading machine, no pipe dope. Cut, deburr, push, tighten.
- It comes apart again. Adding a drop or moving a machine means loosening a nut, not cutting and re-welding. Plants that rearrange get that investment back the first time the line moves.
- Lower installed cost than steel, better air than plastic. Quick-Lock installs at roughly plastic labor rates with the structural strength and the air quality of a far more expensive system.
Ideal Applications
Machine shops and fabrication plants, automotive service and collision centers, tire and fleet shops piping green nitrogen from a generator to each bay, food and beverage packaging lines where rust in the air stream is unacceptable, pharmaceutical and clean manufacturing, woodworking shops, dental and medical facilities, laboratories running vacuum headers, breweries and wineries distributing CO2, body shops running paint-quality air, and any plant replacing a corroded black iron main without shutting the building down.
Sizing the Main and the Drops
Two mistakes account for most disappointing air systems, and both are piping, not compressor.
Undersized mains. Pressure drop in pipe is a function of flow and diameter, and it is not forgiving. Size the main off the chart above at your actual system pressure and your actual demand, not off the compressor's discharge port size. If the chart says 40mm and the old iron was 1-1/4 in, the old iron was the problem.
Dead-end runs. Pipe the main as a loop rather than a spur wherever the building allows it. Air then reaches any point from two directions, which roughly doubles the usable flow of the same tube, as Champion's own flow table notes. A loop is also what makes adding a machine later a non-event.
Take drops off the top of the main, not the bottom, so condensate in the main cannot run down into a tool. Champion's outlet tee with water trap insert is built for exactly this. Pitch the main slightly toward a drop leg with a drain at the low point.
Not sure what you need? Our compressed air engineers will lay out the main, the loop and the drops from your floor plan and quote the whole bill of material, at no charge.
What Else the Job Needs
Tubing is one line on the bill of material. A complete Quick-Lock installation also takes union connectors, elbows, tees, outlet tees, male threaded connectors, saddle clamps, ball valves, wall and strut brackets or wire hangers, end caps and the deburr and marking tools. Champion catalogs all of it in the Quick-Lock range and we can quote it alongside the tube. Call or email with your layout and we will build the full list so nothing stops the install on day two.
Going larger than 2-1/2 in? See our Champion Big-Lock aluminum pipe, 73mm to 273mm (2-1/2 in to 10 in), which uses a grooved mechanical coupling and carries the same lifetime warranty. Quick-Lock and Big-Lock are designed to be used together, with the Big-Lock main feeding Quick-Lock branches.
Air Quality Still Starts Upstream
Aluminum pipe will not rust, but it will happily carry whatever the compressor sends it. Water that condenses in a cold main still drips into a tool, and oil carryover still ruins a paint job. Pair a Quick-Lock system with a properly sized air dryer and compressed air filtration, and put a condensate drain at every low point. The piping protects the air quality you create; it does not create it.
Ordering Notes
- All Quick-Lock products and accessories are NO CANCEL / NO RETURN. Champion states this in capitals in the current price list. Please confirm your sizes and quantities before the order is placed; we are happy to check the take-off with you first.
- Custom ink is made to order. Allow extra lead time and supply the exact legend text.
- Freight: all Quick-Lock and Big-Lock shipments are freight collect from Huntersville, NC 28078 or Las Vegas, NV 89113. Sixteen-foot tube ships as an oversize length, so call us for a freight quote before you order a large package.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install this myself?
Yes, and that is the point of the system. There is no welding, gluing or threading. Cut the tube square, deburr the outside diameter with the Champion deburr tool, mark the insertion depth with the marking gauge, push the tube fully home and tighten the compression nut to the published torque. Champion publishes the torque per size, from 26 in-lb on 20mm and 25mm up to 48 ft-lb on 50mm. Most shops install their own system over a weekend.
What pressure can it hold?
220 PSIG (15 bar) across every size, and it pulls full vacuum at the other end of the range. Champion's commissioning procedure is to pressurize in 15 psig increments and never exceed 220 psig during testing.
Is 14mm or 20mm big enough for a drop?
Usually yes for a drop, almost never for a main. At 125 PSIG, 14mm carries 12 CFM and 20mm carries 36 CFM over 100 ft. That covers a single tool or a bench station. A main feeding a shop needs to be sized off total demand, which is where 32mm through 63mm live.
Why is the tube sold in metric sizes?
The tube is extruded to a calibrated metric outside diameter because the fittings grip the OD rather than threading into it. The inch figures shown are the nominal equivalents the trade uses: 14mm is called 1/2 in, 63mm is called 2-1/2 in. Order by the metric size and the fittings will match.
Can I connect it to my existing iron pipe?
Yes. Champion makes male and female threaded connectors in NPT in every size, so a Quick-Lock main can tie into existing threaded pipe, a compressor discharge, a dryer or a receiver. A common project is to leave the old iron in place as a backup and run new aluminum alongside it.
Does it need to be painted or insulated?
No. The tube is electrostatically painted at the factory inside and out, and the color is the service identification. Insulation is only relevant where you are fighting condensation on a cold run, and the real answer there is a dryer.
What about expansion and contraction?
Aluminum moves 0.024 mm per meter per degree C. Over a long straight run in a building with a wide temperature swing, allow for it the way you would with any metal pipe: do not clamp every bracket rigidly over a hundred-foot run, and let the system breathe at direction changes.
Can I run the green tube for something other than nitrogen?
Mechanically, yes, it is the same tube. But the color code is doing a safety job. If you run green and someone later assumes nitrogen, that is a problem waiting to happen. Use the color that matches the service.
Do you stock this?
Champion carries a deep inventory on this line, which is one of its real advantages over made-to-order piping. Call or email with your list and we will confirm current availability and lead time. Custom ink items are made to order.
