Most compressed air mains want to be overhead: out of the way of forklifts, above the machines they feed, and high enough that drops come down where the work is. Getting them up there is what this listing is for.
Three Champion parts cover the usual overhead problem. The wire hanging system suspends pipe from roof structure on 15 ft adjustable cables. The cantilever wall bracket carries a run out from a wall or column on strut channel, in 12 in and 18 in reaches. The beam clamp attaches a wire hanger or threaded rod to existing steel without drilling it.
Choose what you need from the dropdown above.
Model Selection Chart
| Part Number | Item | Detail | Sold As |
|---|---|---|---|
| XCQL-WH-15-PK10 | Wire hanger | 15 ft lengths | Pack of 10 |
| XCQL-WH-15-PK10-1 | Wire hanger | 15 ft lengths, matched to the 3/8 in insert hanging bracket | Pack of 10 |
| XCQL-WB-830 | Cantilever wall bracket | 12 in reach, strut channel | Each |
| XCQL-WB-831 | Cantilever wall bracket | 18 in reach, strut channel | Each |
| XCQL-BCT | Beam clamp | 3/8 in thread; used with a wire hanger or threaded rod | Each |
Both wire hanger part numbers are listed at the same price in Champion's current book. The -1 suffix is the version Champion pairs with the 3/8 in insert teardrop hanging bracket. If your hangers have to land in a 3/8 in insert, order that one; if you are unsure what stud size the job needs, call us before you order, because these are no-return items.
How the Pieces Go Together
A typical overhead run is three parts stacked:
- Something to hang from. A beam clamp onto existing steel, or an anchor into the deck. The beam clamp is the no-drilling option and at $7 list it is the cheapest part of the whole assembly.
- Something to hang with. A wire hanger, cut to length on site, or threaded rod. The wire system is faster on a long run and it adjusts after the fact, which matters when the building is not level and your pipe needs to be.
- Something to hold the pipe. A teardrop hanging bracket with a 3/8 in insert, in your tube size. Those are on the bracket listing and are ordered separately.
Where the run follows a wall or a line of columns instead, skip the hangers entirely: the cantilever bracket bolts to the structure and carries strut channel out to meet the pipe, and strut brackets then clamp the tube to the channel.
Shared Technical Specifications
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Wire Hanger Length | 15 ft per hanger, 10 hangers per pack |
| Cantilever Reach | 12 in (XCQL-WB-830) or 18 in (XCQL-WB-831) |
| Cantilever Carrier | Strut channel |
| Beam Clamp Thread | 3/8 in, for a wire hanger or threaded rod |
| Compatible Pipe | Champion Quick-Lock aluminum tube, via the matching hanging or strut bracket |
| Installation | No welding or special tools; Champion's guidance is that an installation crew can clip tube to a wall or hang it from the ceiling and around beams |
Ideal Applications
Running a loop main at ceiling height around a shop, carrying a header down the centre of a bay above the machines, picking up an open-web steel roof without drilling it, bringing a run out past an obstruction on a wall, and any install where the floor has to stay clear and the pipe has to be high enough that forklifts and overhead doors never touch it.
Why Overhead, and Why Loop It
Two decisions set how well an air system works, and both are made before a single fitting goes on.
Get it overhead. Pipe at height is out of harm's way, drops land exactly where the work is, and the main can be pitched slightly toward a low point so condensate collects somewhere you can put a drain instead of somewhere you cannot.
Loop it. A main run as a loop feeds every point from two directions, which roughly doubles the usable flow of the same tube on Champion's own published figures, and it makes adding a machine later a non-event. Loops cost more hangers. They are still the right answer.
Take every drop off the top of an overhead main, or use a reduction outlet tee with water trap insert, which handles it inside the fitting.
Building a Complete Quick-Lock System
- Quick-Lock aluminum tubing, 14mm to 63mm
- Teardrop hanging brackets, strut brackets and wall brackets - you will need these alongside the hangers
- Equal tees and reduction outlet tees
- Outlet manifolds for the drop stations
- Tube cutter, deburring tools, marking gauge and wrench sets
- Condensate drains for the system low point
Ordering Notes
- All Quick-Lock products and accessories are NO CANCEL / NO RETURN, per Champion's current price list. Hanging hardware in particular is easy to order wrong, so talk the layout through with us first.
- Freight: freight collect from Huntersville, NC 28078 or Las Vegas, NV 89113.
- Shipping weights: Champion publishes no weight for the Quick-Lock accessory range, so no catalog weight is carried on these variants.
- Photography: Champion publishes no product photograph for the wire hanger, cantilever bracket or beam clamp, so this listing is deliberately shown without an image rather than with a stand-in from another part.
Why Buy from Air Compressor Store
Air Compressor Store is an authorized Champion Pneumatic distributor. Overhead support is the part of a piping job people cost last and regret first. Tell us the building, the structure you can fix to and the run you want, and our compressed air engineers will work out the hanging method and count the hardware properly, at no charge.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the two wire hanger part numbers?
Champion lists XCQL-WH-15-PK10 and XCQL-WH-15-PK10-1 at the same price, and the price list distinguishes the second as the one that works with the 3/8 in insert hanging bracket. If your teardrop brackets take a 3/8 in insert, which is the standard Champion hanging bracket, order the -1. Call us if you want it confirmed against your bracket before the order goes in.
Do I need a beam clamp for every hanger?
One per hanging point, wherever you are attaching to steel rather than drilling an anchor. At $7 list they are not what drives the cost of an overhead job; the hangers and brackets are.
Can I use threaded rod instead of the wire system?
Yes. The beam clamp takes 3/8 in thread, and the teardrop hanging bracket takes a 3/8 in insert, so threaded rod works throughout. Wire is faster to install on a long run and easier to adjust afterwards; rod is more rigid and is what some specifications call for.
12 in or 18 in cantilever?
Measure what has to clear. The reach needs to carry the pipe past whatever is on the wall, including the fittings and any brackets, with room to get a wrench on a joint. If you are between the two, take the 18 in; the $37 list difference is far cheaper than discovering the run fouls something.
Can one bracket or hanger carry more than one pipe?
A cantilever bracket carries strut channel, and strut channel can carry several runs clamped side by side with strut brackets, which is a common way to run air and nitrogen together. A single teardrop hanging bracket holds one tube.
How far apart do the hanging points go?
Champion does not publish a span table in its current Quick-Lock literature, so we will not quote you a number we cannot source. Send us the run, the tube size and the structure and we will advise. The principle is that aluminum is light but a long unsupported span sags, and the sag loads the fittings.
