Morganton VES04781 80 Gallon Horizontal Air Tank, 200 PSI, Feet and Top Plate
The VES04781 is an 80 gallon horizontal ASME receiver rated for 200 PSI with welded feet and a flat top plate. Eighty gallons horizontal with a top plate is the classic layout for a 5 to 7.5 HP two stage piston compressor: the pump and motor bolt to the plate, the belt guard sits over the tank, and the whole package stays low enough to roll under a bench or into a truck body. Buy it to replace a failed tank under an existing 5 HP unit, to build a package from a bare pump such as the Champion R-Series bare pump, or as a horizontal receiver where height is limited. Nothing to mount on top? The 80 gallon tank with feet only is the cheaper option.
Sizing and what to add
At 3 to 4 gallons of storage per CFM, 80 gallons suits pumps from about 17 to 25 CFM, which is the 5 to 7.5 HP range. Confirm the pump and motor footprint fits the plate before ordering. The tank ships bare: add a safety relief valve and gauge, a pressure switch, a check valve on the pump discharge and an automatic drain on the bottom port. If the compressor feeds a paint booth or any finishing work, plan a refrigerated dryer after the tank.

Grey primer is standard; eleven powder coat colors are available for outdoor or truck use and are listed with their part numbers below. An 80 gallon tank ships by LTL freight on a pallet.
