Champion R-Series two stage bare pumps: R-10D, R-15B, R-30D, R-40A and R-70A
These are the splash lubricated cast iron pumps that Champion builds its R-Series and RV-Series compressors around, sold bare for rebuilding an existing unit or building your own. The R-10D is the 2 and 3 HP pump, the R-15B the 5 and 7.5 HP pump, the R-30D the four cylinder 7.5 to 15 HP pump, the R-40A the two cylinder 15 HP pump, and the R-70A the four cylinder 20 to 30 HP pump. All are two stage, rated 175 PSI maximum, with a cast iron crankcase, cylinders and flywheel, disc valves and a finned intercooler, and they are designed for 100 percent duty when the belt drive is sized to the pump's rated speed.
Matching a pump to a compressor
Match the pump to the horsepower you have, not the other way round: a pump driven faster than its rating to chase more CFM overheats and carries oil. Check the flywheel diameter against your motor pulley to keep the pump speed in range, confirm the mounting bolt pattern on the base plate, and order a new belt, a check valve and an unloader if the old ones are tired; the pressure switch and motor can usually stay.
