Morganton VES04769 120 Gallon Horizontal Air Tank with Saddle Legs and Top Plate, 200 PSI
The Morganton VES04769 is a 120 gallon ASME code horizontal air receiver rated for 200 PSI, on saddle legs with a top plate. It is the base for a 7.5 to 10 HP horizontal simplex package, or for a duplex with two 5 HP pumps side by side, which is how most climate control and industrial shop units are built. The top plate carries the pump, motor and belt guard; the saddle legs bolt to the floor.
Sizing and fit
120 gallons suits 25 to 40 CFM of two stage piston output, so a single 7.5 or 10 HP pump or a pair of 5 HP pumps. Check the top plate against the pump and motor footprint before ordering; for a duplex, both pumps and both motors have to land on the plate with room for the belt guards. Send us the compressor model and we will confirm. 200 PSI working pressure covers 175 PSI two stage pumps. If you do not need the plate, the 120 gallon vertical on a base ring stores the same air in less floor space.
What to add to the tank
Receivers ship bare. Fit a safety relief valve and pressure gauge kit rated at or below the tank's working pressure before it goes into service, and put a drain on the bottom port. A manual drain works if someone will open it every shift; otherwise use an electronic timer drain or a zero loss drain such as the EZ-12, which dumps condensate without venting compressed air. Pipe the drain to an oil water separator if the compressor is lubricated.
Installation, shipping and finish
Bolt the saddle legs down through vibration pads and leave service room on the pump side. A 120 gallon tank with a plate ships by LTL freight on a pallet. Add a refrigerated air dryer sized to the pump output for paint, tools or controls. Grey primer is standard; eleven powder coat colors are listed below.
