Why Not Just Buy Bolts

Because the bolts are not the hard part. The hard part is having the right bolts, in the right length, in the right quantity, with the matching gasket, at the moment the joint is open and the line is isolated. A trip to the fastener bin produces something that threads in and does not produce a correctly specified flange joint.

At $57 to $242 at list this is a maintenance consumable, not a capital item. One kit per flange size in the plant, on the shelf, is the right answer.

Reassembly, Briefly

• Clean both flange faces. Old gasket material left on the face is the most common cause of a joint that will not seal on the second attempt.
• New gasket, every time. It is in the kit for a reason.
• Pull the bolts up in a star pattern, in stages, not one bolt at a time to full load. Uneven loading cocks the flange and the joint weeps on the light side.
• Bring the system up in steps and inspect at each step rather than going straight to working pressure.

Champion's August 2026 price list publishes description, part number and list price for the Big-Lock range and nothing else: no bolt size, grade, length or count, no gasket material, no torque figure, no weights and no dimensions. We have not found a Big-Lock datasheet that supplies them. Rather than publish figures we cannot evidence, this listing states only what Champion publishes. If you need the bolt specification or a torque value before you order, ask us and we will get it from the factory.

Is the flange in the kit?

No. This is the bolts and the gasket, for reassembling a flange you already have. For the flange itself, with its adapter where applicable, see the stainless flange kits.

How many bolts are in a kit?

Champion does not publish the count in the price list and we are not going to guess it. The kit is sized to the flange, so it is the correct quantity for one joint. Ask us if you need the figure confirmed before ordering.

Why do the part numbers end differently?

The 73mm and 90mm kits print as BLTKT and the 115mm, 168mm and 220mm as BLTK in Champion's current price list. We have carried the part numbers exactly as printed. If the factory corrects them we will update the listing.

What torque do the bolts take?

Not published for Big-Lock. Champion publishes a torque ladder for the Quick-Lock range but those are different fasteners on a different joint and we will not transfer the figures across. Pull up in a star pattern, in stages, and ask us if you need a specified value.

Can I buy just the gasket?

Yes. The flange gaskets are listed separately in standard and high temperature grades.
