The EZ-12 is a float operated, air piloted condensate drain that opens a full port ball valve when its reservoir fills and closes it again before any compressed air escapes. It needs no electricity, so it fits receivers, aftercooler separators, dryer and filter bowls and drip legs in places where running a timer drain's power cord is a nuisance, and it stops the air that a timer drain blows away on every cycle. Each cycle discharges about 12 ounces, and it is rated from 0 to 200 PSI, which covers everything up to a 200 PSI receiver.

Mount it vertically below the point you are draining with a short, full size drop so condensate reaches it by gravity, and fit an isolation ball valve ahead of it so it can be serviced without blowing the tank down. There are two 1/2 inch inlets: one takes the condensate line and the other can be used as a balance line back to the top of the vessel so an air lock cannot stop the float, or plugged. Pipe the 3/8 inch outlet to an oil water separator, since compressor condensate carries oil. One EZ-12 per drain point is the rule; do not tee several into one drain.

How It Works

Condensate enters through one of two inlets. Inside, a stainless steel float is connected to a lever arm, which operates a filter-protected poppet assembly. As the reservoir fills, the float rises to a preset level, triggering the poppet to send control air to the valve actuator. This action opens the full-port drain valve, allowing condensate to discharge. Once emptied, the float drops, sealing the control air line and closing the ball valve, readying the system for the next cycle.
