Prevost Compression Ball Valve for Aluminum Air Pipe

This ball valve drops straight into a run of Prevost PPS aluminum air pipe with a compression joint on both sides, giving you a quarter turn shut off anywhere in the line without threaded adapters or welding. Full bore when open, so it adds no pressure drop; positive seal when closed. Sizes run from 1/2 inch to 4 inch pipe.

Where to put shut offs

Put one at the head of every branch so a zone can be isolated for maintenance while the rest of the shop keeps running, one at the compressor room outlet so the whole network can be shut down without stopping the compressor, and one either side of any dryer or filter that will be serviced in place. On a loop, two valves on the loop let you close a section for repairs without losing air to the far side. Drops to a workstation usually get a smaller valve at the wall manifold rather than in the pipe.

Compression or compact connection

From 1/2 to 1 1/2 inch the valve is compression on both ends and simply replaces a short piece of pipe. The 2, 2 1/2, 3 and 4 inch sizes come three ways: compression on both ends, compression on one end and Prevost compact connection (CC) on the other, or compact connection on both ends. Match the ends to the fittings on each side of the valve; if you are not sure which connection your larger pipe fittings use, send us the part numbers or ask through the piping plan request and we will pick the right valve.

Installation

Cut both pipe ends square, chamfer them with the chamfering tool, push each end in to the depth mark and tighten the nuts. Support the pipe with a bracket and clamp close to the valve so the handle can be worked without loading the joints.
