What Each Accessory Does

Modular Sleeves

The connector that makes the FRL line modular. A sleeve clamps two adjacent bodies face to face, carrying the air between them without a threaded nipple, a union or a leak path. Two versions are available: CGPA-95-969 includes a wall-mount T-bracket so the station can be fixed to a panel or wall, and CGPA-95-292 is the plain sleeve for stations mounted by their piping. For use with the 16 and 26 Series only.

Manifold Block

CGPA-95-919, 1/2" port. Takes the regulated, filtered outlet of a station and branches it to multiple downstream drops from one point, rather than running a tee in pipe. For use with the 16 and 26 Series only.

3-Way Shut-Off Valve

Available in CGPA-95-096 (1/4"), CGPA-95-097 (3/8") and CGPA-95-098 (1/2"). A 3-way valve does what a simple ball valve cannot: in the closed position it isolates the station from the supply and vents the trapped downstream air to atmosphere. That is what makes it safe to open a bowl or break a joint, and it is the accessory most often left out of a station and most regretted later. For use with the 16 and 26 Series only.

Internal Automatic Piston Drain

CGRP-95-584, for the CF00 and CM00 Series (the compact 03 body). Replaces the standard manual drain so collected condensate is expelled automatically rather than waiting on someone to remember to crack the petcock. A manual drain that nobody operates is the single most common reason a point-of-use filter ends up passing slugs of water downstream.

Pressure Gauge

CGRP-95-229, 1/4" NPT, for the CR16, CR26, CR30 and CR40 Series regulators. Champion regulators and the CCB6 integral filter regulator do not ship with a gauge, so unless you have a downstream gauge or transducer already, add one of these to every regulator you order.

Building a Complete FRL Station

A full Champion station is built in the direction of flow: filter, then regulator, then lubricator, joined by modular sleeves, with a 3-way shut-off valve at the inlet and a gauge on the regulator. Where a filter and regulator alone will do, the Champion CCB6 integral filter regulator puts both in one body. Replacement elements for every filter grade are listed under Champion FRL Series replacement filter elements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which series do these fit?

The sleeves, manifold block and 3-way valves are for the 16 and 26 Series only. The piston drain is for the compact 03 Series (CF00 and CM00) bodies. The gauge fits the CR16, CR26, CR30 and CR40 regulators. Check your body series before ordering: the 30, 40 and 50 Series bodies do not take the modular accessories listed here.

Do I need a modular sleeve for every joint?

Yes, one sleeve per joint between adjacent bodies. A three-stage filter, regulator and lubricator station needs two sleeves. Order at least one with the wall-mount T-bracket if the station is not supported by its own piping.

Why a 3-way valve instead of a ball valve?

Because a ball valve only isolates. Close it and the air downstream stays trapped at full pressure, which is exactly the air you are about to open a bowl into. A 3-way valve isolates and vents in one motion, which is what makes the station safe to service.

Should I fit the automatic drain?

If the filter is anywhere that someone will not manually drain it on a reliable schedule, yes. Collected condensate that is never drained eventually reaches the bowl's air path and carries downstream in slugs, which defeats the purpose of installing the filter in the first place.

Does my regulator really not come with a gauge?

Correct. Champion CR Series regulators and the CCB6 integral filter regulator are supplied without a gauge. Add CGRP-95-229 unless you have downstream instrumentation already.
