Champion CCB6 Series Integral Filter Regulator – 5 Micron, 64 to 70 SCFM

The Champion CCB6 Series combines 5 micron filtration and pressure regulation in a single body, sometimes called a piggyback or filter regulator. One unit, one mounting point, one set of pipe threads, and roughly half the installed length of a separate filter and regulator pair. Rated to 200 psig with a flow capacity of 64 to 70 SCFM, it is the efficient choice wherever panel space is tight and lubrication is not required.

When to Choose an Integral Unit

Reach for the CCB6 when you need clean, regulated air and nothing else: pneumatic control panels, instrument and solenoid feeds, machine inlets on unlubricated equipment, test benches, and any drop where the cabinet or bracket simply will not take two modular bodies side by side. Choose separate filter and regulator units instead when you need a filtration grade finer than 5 micron, when you want to add a lubricator to build a full three-stage FRL station, or when you need more than 70 SCFM.

Gauges Are Ordered Separately

As with the Champion CR Series regulators, the CCB6 does not ship with a pressure gauge. Gauge CGRP-95-229 (1/4" NPT) is listed under Champion FRL Series modular accessories.

Element Replacement and Service

Replace the 5 micron element annually, or sooner if pressure drop across the unit climbs noticeably. Because the filter sits upstream of the regulating valve inside the same body, a neglected element shows up first as a regulator that will not hold its set point under load, which is easy to misdiagnose as a failed diaphragm. Change the element before you condemn the regulator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this and a separate filter and regulator?

Function is the same; packaging is not. The CCB6 puts both in one casting, which saves space, weight, one set of pipe joints and some assembly time. What you give up is flexibility: you cannot change the filtration grade, you cannot service the two halves independently, and you cannot extend the station with a lubricator. For a control panel that is a good trade. For a tool drop that may later need lubrication, it is not.

Can I get a finer element in it?

No. Every CCB6 uses a 5 micron element by design. If you need 0.5 micron, 0.01 micron or carbon-grade air, use a separate Champion FRL Series filter in the grade you need, followed by a Champion CR Series regulator.

Does it come with a bowl sight gauge?

Yes. Unlike some competing piggyback units where the sight gauge is an option, every CCB6 ships with a metal bowl and sight gauge as standard.

Which port size should I pick?

There is very little flow difference between them, 64 SCFM on the 1/4" versus 70 SCFM on the 1/2", so choose on the thread that matches your piping rather than on capacity. If you need meaningfully more than 70 SCFM, this is the wrong product and you want a separate 30 Series filter and regulator pair.
