nano aftercoolers: knock the heat and the water out before the dryer
Air leaves a compressor at 180 to 250 degrees F carrying all the water it took in as vapor. An aftercooler brings it down to within 10 to 15 degrees of ambient, which condenses 60 to 70 percent of that water so a separator and drain can dump it before it reaches the receiver, the dryer or the tools. A refrigerated dryer is rated for 100 degree F inlet air, so a compressor without an aftercooler either needs one of these or a high temperature dryer.
X-CC is a stand alone air cooled aftercooler with its own fan motor: X-CC100 through X-CC3500 covers 100 to 3500 CFM, with 115 volt single phase fans on the small units and three phase on the large ones, and each is offered with or without a moisture separator and drain. Mount it on the wall or floor between the compressor discharge and the receiver. X-AOC is a combination aftercooler and oil cooler, 8 to 350 CFM, with two circuits in one fan cooled core: compressed air on one side and compressor lubricating oil on the other. It is built for pressure lubricated piston compressors and small rotary screws that run hot, and it replaces the compressor's own cooler when the original has failed or is undersized for a hot room.
Sizing and installation
Pick the model whose CFM rating meets or exceeds the compressor's delivered CFM; the rating assumes 100 degree F ambient, so step up one size in a hot compressor room. Add a zero air loss or timed drain on the separator, pipe the unit so condensate falls toward the drain, and leave 24 inches of clearance for airflow. An aftercooler ahead of a nano refrigerated dryer lets the dryer run at its rated capacity. See all aftercoolers or all nano purification products.
