Champion D-Series Enclosed Rotary Screw Air Compressors, 5 to 175 HP
The Champion D-Series is Champion Pneumatic's workhorse fixed-speed, oil-injected rotary screw line: a fully enclosed, sound-attenuated package built for shops and plants that run compressed air all day, every day. Every unit arrives factory-assembled, factory-filled with RotorLub 4000 and factory-tested, with the aftercooler, air/oil separation, thermostatic mixing valve, inlet filtration and Governor controller already integrated behind one sheet-metal enclosure. You set it, you pipe it, you run it.
Fourteen models span 5 HP through 175 HP and roughly 19 to 762 CFM. Smaller frames (D5 through D30) are available either base mounted or as a complete AirStation package: compressor, ASME receiver tank and, if you want it, an integrated non-cycling refrigerated dryer on a single skid, piped and wired at the factory. From 40 HP up, the D-Series is supplied base mounted and sized to sit alongside a separate receiver and dryer.
Warthog Air Compressor Store is an authorized Champion distributor. Pricing on this page is current to the August 15 2026 Champion Rotary price list.

A dash means Champion does not publish a rating at that pressure for that model. The D-Series is a fixed-speed machine, so it makes full flow or it unloads; it does not modulate capacity to demand unless the inlet modulation option is fitted.

Common to every D-Series model: air-cooled radiator-type aftercooler and oil cooler, spin-on air/oil separator, spin-on oil filter, ASME oil reservoir, heavy-duty inlet air filter, corrosion-resistant control lines, minimum-pressure discharge check valve, thermostatic mixing valve, load/no-load capacity control and the Champion Governor controller. Motors are TEAO (D5 to D15) or TEFC (D20 and up), CSA approved, 60 Hz. Starters are full voltage through 15 HP and wye-delta from 20 HP up.
Control enclosure ratings run IP54 on D5 to D15, IP23 on D20 to D30 and IP41 from D40 up. Design codes are cULus listed and CSA approved electronics on D5 to D15 and D40 to D100, compliant to UL standards on D20 to D30, and QPS certified to UL standards on D125 to D175.
What the Configurations Mean
- Base Mount is the compressor alone on its own feet, ready to pipe into an existing receiver and dryer. On base-mount units the moisture trap ships loose. Single phase is offered only on D5, D7.5 and D10.
- AirStation / Air System is the compressor factory-mounted on an ASME receiver, with a manual tank drain, a standard receiver tank and (from 20 HP up) a three-way bypass as standard. Receiver sizes are 80 or 120 gallon on D5 to D15 and 120 or 240 gallon on D20 to D30.
- With Dryer adds a factory-mounted, factory-piped non-cycling refrigerated dryer: a Champion CGDA on D5 and D7.5, an XCNCA75 on D10 and D15, an XCNC100 on D20 and an XCNC150 on D25 and D30. An automatic tank drain and a three-valve bypass come standard whenever the dryer is fitted.
- Single Phase vs Three Phase: three-phase units are supplied tri-volt (200/230/460 V) or dedicated (380 / 400 / 575 V) at the same list price, so the voltage is specified at order entry and does not change the price. D15 and every model from D20 up is three phase only.
Order-Time Options That Are Not Sold as Line Items
Several D-Series options carry no charge, or are deducts, and cannot be added to a cart. Tell us at order entry and we will set them on the configurator:
- California Code receiver (manually operated bypass valve, Title 8, Division 1, Chapter 4, Article 3, Section 465): no charge on D5, D10 and D15 AirStation units, not available on D7.5. It must be selected on the configurator to be installed at the factory, and the receiver dimensions differ, so call for them.
- 70°C (158°F) thermal mixing valve: no charge on D20 through D175 in place of the standard 55°C valve. Standard on D5 and D10 through D15; not available on D7.5.
- RotorLub 4K lubricant in place of RotorLub 4000: no charge on D20 and up.
- Dedicated 380 / 400 / 575 V three phase on the D20: no charge in place of tri-volt.
- Dryer prefilter on XCNC-equipped AirStation units: available, priced at order entry.
Ideal Applications
The D-Series suits any plant with a steady, predictable air demand, where a fixed-speed machine runs loaded most of its duty cycle and a variable-speed drive would not pay for itself. Typical homes for it:
- Machine shops and CNC cells running air chucks, blow-off and tool changers
- Automotive and heavy truck service, body shops and tire shops (D5 to D30 AirStation packages with an integrated dryer are the usual pick here)
- Woodworking shops running sanders, clamps and dust gates
- Packaging, bottling and light manufacturing lines
- Food plants, where the RotorLub 4000FG USDA food-grade fill options apply
- Larger plants buying D75 through D175 as a base-load machine, often sequenced with a variable-speed trim unit
If your demand swings hard between shifts or across the day, look at the Champion DRS and VR variable-speed lines instead, or run a D-Series as base load with a variable-speed machine trimming on top. The D-Series sequencing kit exists precisely for that.
Service, Accessories and Consumables
Factory-installed options such as electric tank drains, moisture separators, sequencing kits, NEMA 4 control boxes, inlet modulation and the RotorLub specialty lubricant fills are sold on our companion listing, Champion D-Series Factory-Installed Options. They are installed at the factory and must be ordered with the compressor.
Routine consumables, air/oil separators, oil filters, inlet filter elements and RotorLub fluid are stocked. Downstream, the matching Champion air treatment is on our air dryers and air filters pages. For the rest of the Champion rotary range see rotary screw air compressors and fixed speed rotary screw air compressors.
Premium Warranty Kits
Champion publishes a 10-year premium warranty kit part number for every D-Series frame but does not print a list price for any of them, so they are not sold on this page. Ask us for a quote and name your model:
- D5 and D7.5: 47918877001 (single phase), 47918876001 (three phase)
- D10: 47918884001 (single phase), 47918883001 (three phase). D15 three phase only
- D20, D25, D30: 302KCA6032
- D40, D50: MK-D40-50C
- D75, D100: 300DFX6032
- D125, D150, D175: 300DMX6032
Also Available by Quote
- Voltage conversion kits for D20 and D25 (460 V to 208-230 V and 208-230 V to 460 V). The price book shows them as available options but prints no list price.
- Installation kits, remote start kits and heater kits on D20 to D30, all shown N/A in the August 2026 book.
- Dryer prefilters for XCNC-equipped AirStation units.
Why Buy From Warthog
Warthog Air Compressor Store is an authorized Champion Pneumatic distributor, not a drop-ship reseller. We price off the current factory price list, we configure the order entry number for you so the machine arrives built the way your plant needs it, and we stock the filters, separators and RotorLub fluid that keep it under warranty. If you are choosing between frames, call us: picking a D25 when a D20 would have carried the load is the most expensive mistake in this catalog.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the D-Series and the DRS?
Same airend family, different drive. The D-Series is fixed speed: the motor runs at constant RPM and the machine loads and unloads against a pressure band. The DRS is variable speed, with a drive that matches motor RPM to demand. Fixed speed costs less to buy and is the better choice when demand is steady.
Why does the model code not appear as a part number?
Champion sells the D-Series through a configurator rather than a fixed part number. The book prints a Model (D30) and an Order Entry number (D20-30B), and the rest of the machine is defined by options selected at order entry. The SKUs on this page are Warthog's own codes, built from the Champion model and the configuration, so you can order a specific build in one click. We translate it into the Champion configurator string when the order goes in.
Is the D7.5 the same thing as the "D7" printed in the price book?
Yes. Page 19 of the August 2026 rotary book prints the model as "D7" while page 20 and the horsepower row both read D7.5. We have built it as D7.5, which is the model Champion publishes everywhere else.
Do you publish shipping weights for the tank-mounted AirStation packages?
No, and neither does Champion. The price book publishes one weight per model, explicitly labelled base mount. We have loaded those real figures on the base-mount variants and left the AirStation variants at zero rather than invent a number: an 80, 120 or 240 gallon ASME receiver adds real weight and we are not going to guess it. Ask us before you book freight on a tank-mounted unit and we will get the crated weight from the factory.
Can I run a D-Series on single phase power?
Only the D5, D7.5 and D10. From D15 up the line is three phase only. On D10 the 208 V single-phase build is shown N/A in the book; 230 V single phase is available.
What pressure will it make?
D5 through D15 are rated to 145 PSIG, D20 and up to 175 PSIG, and the L-Series siblings to 190. Capacity falls as pressure rises, which is what the CFM table above shows. Specify the lowest pressure that will actually do your job: every 2 PSI you can drop is worth about 1% of the power bill.
How loud is it?
68 dBA on D5 through D15, 73 to 74 dBA on D20 through D50, 76 dBA on D75 and D100 and 80 dBA on D125 through D175, all measured in the enclosure's standard configuration. The small frames are quiet enough to sit in a working shop without a compressor room.
Does it come with oil?
Yes. Every D-Series ships filled with RotorLub 4000. The RotorLub 8K, 8K HT and food-grade fills on the companion options listing are factory substitutions, not top-ups.
Specifications, weights and dimensions are approximate and taken from the Champion Rotary Price List effective August 15 2026. Champion reserves the right to change specifications without notice. Flow, pressure and voltages are for 60 Hz models.
