California Air Tools 60040CAD: 75 dB, two 2 HP motors, 60 gallon, 10.6 CFM at 90 PSI
The 60040CAD is for the shop that needs a stationary 60 gallon compressor but cannot live with the noise of a conventional one: auto detailing and tint shops, cabinet and millwork shops, dental and lab work, screen printing, body shops in strip malls, and attached home garages. Two 2 HP oil free pumps run side by side at 1680 RPM for a combined 10.6 CFM at 90 PSI and 12.8 CFM at 40 PSI, which supports two nailer stations, a DA sander in normal use, an HVLP gun on small panels, tire machines and impact wrenches, and blow off. At 75 dB you can hold a conversation next to it.
Power. The two motors draw 14 amps total at 220 volt, so it needs a dedicated 220 to 240 volt 20 amp circuit; confirm plug or hard wire against the manual before the electrician comes. The 60 gallon ASME tank fills in about 6.5 minutes from empty and cycles far less than a 20 gallon unit, which is what keeps the pumps cool and quiet. Anchor the tank feet, leave a foot of clearance around the pumps for cooling air, and give the automatic drain valve a floor drain or a bucket, because it will dump condensate on its own.
What comes on it: automatic tank drain, 5 micron filter and regulator, two gauges and a 3/8 inch outlet, thermal overload on each motor. There is no oil to change. At 10 to 13 CFM the right dryer is a small refrigerated unit such as the California Air Tools RD-91503, which matters if you spray paint or run air tools with close tolerances.
