The ABAC COOL 35 is a refrigerated air dryer rated at 35 CFM (850 l/min, 51 m3/h) that strips moisture out of compressed air before it reaches your tools, lines, and finishing work. It runs on standard 115V 60 Hz shop power, so it plugs in next to a single-phase compressor without new wiring. Maximum working pressure is 232 PSI, which covers every reciprocating and rotary screw compressor in the ABAC range. COOL 35 is the third size in the ABAC COOL dryer family, carried as code C2 in the COOL 15-100 UL manual, and it shares the 42 lb cabinet and 1/2 in NPT connections of the COOL 15 and COOL 25 while handling ten more CFM than the COOL 25.

Typical applications
Paint and body shops, cabinet and woodworking shops, small production cells, laser and plasma tables, pneumatic control systems, packaging lines, tire inflation and injection molding: anywhere water in the air line is blowing out finishes, rusting tools and fittings, or freezing an outdoor drop in winter. A refrigerated dryer chills the air so the water condenses, drains it away, and sends dry air down the line, which is the most straightforward way to stop moisture damage downstream of a compressor.
How the COOL range works
ABAC builds the COOL range around a combined air to air and air to refrigerant heat exchanger with an integrated water separator, a hot gas bypass valve that injects hot gas from the refrigerant compressor discharge to hold refrigeration capacity steady across load conditions and keep the evaporator from freezing, a capillary tube and refrigerant filter on the cooling circuit, a refrigerant compressor protected against thermal overload, an air cooled condenser, a timer drain that clears condensate on its own, and a front panel dew point indicator with a green target zone so you can read air quality at a glance. ABAC rates the COOL range for a 45 F (7 C) pressure dew point, which it notes covers more than 95 percent of industrial compressed air applications. The simple vertical layout keeps the footprint small and leaves the serviceable parts reachable from the front.
Service and running cost
The COOL 35 carries a small sealed R-134a circuit, 0.26 lb of refrigerant, and draws 156 W, which is 129 W for the refrigeration compressor and 27 W for the condenser fan. At that draw the dryer costs very little to leave running alongside the compressor, and there is no desiccant to replace and no purge air lost to regeneration, which is the running cost that separates a refrigerated dryer from a desiccant one. Routine upkeep is keeping the air cooled condenser clear of dust so it can reject heat, checking that the timer drain is actually discharging, and leaving clearance around the cabinet for airflow. The hot gas bypass valve is factory calibrated and is not a field adjustment, so a dew point reading outside the green zone usually points to a dirty condenser, a hot room, or incoming air above the 122 F limit rather than to the valve.
Sizing and installation
Size the dryer to the compressor it follows, not to the pipe it bolts into. At 35 CFM the COOL 35 comfortably covers a 5 HP two stage piston machine and leaves headroom on a 7.5 HP one, which is the pairing most small shops are actually making. Step up to it when a COOL 25 at 25 CFM is running at its limit, and move on to the COOL 50 at 50 CFM if the compressor behind it is larger again. Undersizing is the usual reason a dryer disappoints, so leave headroom rather than matching the rating exactly.
ABAC quotes its ratings at reference conditions of 101 PSI working pressure, 95 F incoming air and a 77 F room, and publishes correction factors because real conditions move the number. Capacity drops as the room gets hotter and drops harder as incoming air gets hotter, so a dryer sitting in a hot room or close to a compressor discharge will not hold its 35 CFM rating. Higher line pressure works the other way and recovers a little capacity. Keep the room between 41 F and 104 F with incoming air between 50 F and 122 F, and if the dryer has to live near the compressor, fit an aftercooler ahead of it.
At 42 lb and a 1.4 sq ft footprint the COOL 35 can be set on a bench or a wall shelf rather than claiming floor space, and the 1/2 in NPT inlet and outlet make it a straight tie-in on most small shop piping. The 232 PSI rating means the dryer will not be the weak link behind a 175 PSI two stage reciprocating machine. Pair it with a coalescing filter upstream for oil carryover and a particulate filter downstream when your work calls for cleaner air, and give the condensate somewhere to go.
