The 8010SPC is the same 1.0 HP oil free pump and 8 gallon steel tank as the California Air Tools 8010, closed inside an insulated steel cabinet on four swivel casters. The open 8010 is already one of the quietest small compressors made at 60 dB; the cabinet takes it down to about 40 dB, which is quieter than normal conversation. Buyers are dental and medical offices, labs, recording and photo studios, classrooms and anyone who has to run a compressor in the same room as customers or coworkers.
What 3 CFM runs
At 3.0 CFM at 90 PSI and 115 PSI maximum it handles brad and finish nailers, blow guns, tire inflation, airbrushes and small spray guns, and pneumatic dental or lab instruments. It will not keep up with a sander, an impact gun or an HVLP spray gun. If you need the cabinet but more air, the 10020SPC gives 5.3 CFM from a 2 HP pump in the same style of enclosure.
Power and placement
It draws 7.6 amps at 110 volts, so any 15 amp household circuit works. Use a longer air hose rather than an extension cord; a cord starves the motor. Leave a few inches of clearance at the cabinet vents, open the drain valve after each use, and because the pump is oil free there is no oil to check.
