This 70°C thermostatic element (part number 1202586901) is a replacement temperature control for Atlas Copco air compressors. It regulates oil flow through the cooler so the airend reaches operating temperature quickly and then holds a safe range.
A thermostat that sticks open or closed lets oil run too cold (moisture and condensation) or too hot (accelerated oil breakdown). Replacing it with the correct part restores stable operating temperatures and protects the compressor.
