The SCD stainless steel grid is one of the filtration components inside a Super-Dry D Series single-tower desiccant dryer. It works alongside the polypropylene coalescer element and the felt pads in the stage that strips solid particulates out of the air before it reaches the desiccant. Order the grid that matches your dryer, with one part covering both the D2 and the D3.
How it works
Wet compressed air enters the D Series through an offset inlet that spins water droplets out by centrifugal action, then passes around the coalescer element, the felt pads and the stainless steel grids to remove solid particulates. From there the air flows upward through the sewed desiccant bag and out through a second stage of filtration that catches desiccant dust. Because the grid is stainless, it is the reusable part of that stack, so replace it when it is deformed, blinded or damaged during a cartridge change rather than on a fixed schedule.
