The Super-Dry HGT Series humidity and temperature gauge shows how saturated the desiccant cartridge inside a Super-Dry D Series compressed air dryer has become. It is an optional accessory that replaces the top pressure gauge on the dryer, and its job is to tell you when a cartridge change is due instead of leaving you to guess. It is a relative humidity indicator, not a dew point monitor, so treat it as a maintenance signal rather than an air quality measurement.
How it works
- The gauge reads relative humidity from 10 to 80% along with temperature from 20 to 100°F at the 1/4" NPT port.
- Record the humidity together with the temperature, for example 40% at 80°F, because relative humidity shifts with air temperature.
- A new, dry desiccant cartridge typically reads about 30 to 35% relative humidity at 70°F (roughly 21°C).
- The reading climbs as the cartridge takes on moisture. As the needle moves into the upper end of the 10 to 80% scale and approaches the top of the dial, it is time to replace the desiccant cartridge.
- Accuracy fluctuates with environment and season, and in cold temperatures the indicated saturation percentage rises.
- The gauge is not designed to withstand rapid or sudden depressurization, which can damage internal components.
