Super-Dry close nipples are the short, fully threaded galvanized steel connectors used to tie a Super-Dry dryer, water separator or filter housing straight into your shop air piping. Both ends are male pipe (NPT) thread with no unthreaded center section, so the nipple takes up the least possible space between two female ports. Five sizes cover the 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2" and 2" port sizes found across the Super-Dry line. Buy the size that matches the port on your equipment, then order one per connection you need to make.
How it works
- A close nipple is threaded end to end, so it screws directly into two female NPT ports and pulls them tight against each other with no added run of pipe.
- Both ends are male pipe (NPT) thread, matching the female inlet and outlet ports on Super-Dry equipment and standard iron pipe fittings.
- The body is galvanized steel in a straight shape, so it can be threaded, tightened and broken loose with a standard pipe wrench.
- Sizing follows the port, not the flow: a 1" port takes the 1" nipple, a 2" port takes the 2" nipple.

Which size do I need
- 1/2" (CN-1/2): 1/2" NPT ports, including the 45 SCFM FSD water separator and SAF filter housing, and 1/2" point-of-use ATD dryers.
- 3/4" (CN-3/4): 3/4" NPT ports, including the 85 SCFM FSD separator and SAF filter housing.
- 1" (CN-1): 1" NPT ports, including the D1 desiccant dryer and the 185 SCFM FSD separator and SAF filter housing.
- 1-1/2" (CN-1.5): 1-1/2" NPT ports, including the D2 dryer and the 375 SCFM FSD separator and SAF filter housing.
- 2" (CN-2): 2" NPT ports, including the D3 dryer and the 515 SCFM FSD separator and SAF filter housing.
- For a 3" NPT port such as the D4 dryer, use a Super-Dry reducing bushing to step down to 2" or 1-1/2" first.
Typical applications
- Connecting a Super-Dry desiccant dryer inlet and outlet to shop air piping
- Coupling a water separator directly to a filter housing in a treatment train
- Joining a filter housing to a regulator or ball valve at the wall
- Mounting point-of-use dryers and filters on paint booth and sandblasting drops
- Rebuilding an air line after servicing or replacing a dryer cartridge
- Keeping stock on hand for shop maintenance and compressed air line repairs
The Super-Dry close nipple range is the simplest way to land a D Series, FSD or SAF unit onto existing NPT piping without adding length to the run. Warthog Air Compressor Store is an authorized US source for Super-Dry Systems Inc. You get the correct factory fitting for paint booth, sandblasting, laboratory and general plant air installations. Match the nipple size to the port size on your equipment and order one for each joint.
