This replacement kit renews the thermal valve element in a rotary screw air compressor. The thermal, or thermostatic, valve regulates oil flow between the cooler and the airend so the compressor warms up quickly and then stays within a safe operating range, avoiding both cold-running condensation and overheating.
Over time the element inside a thermal valve can stick or lose its calibrated response, which often shows up as high discharge temperatures or oil where it should not be. Installing a fresh element kit restores proper temperature control.
