The Powerex SLAE05E is a 5 HP oil-free scroll air end, the larger of the two scroll pumps Powerex builds for medical and laboratory duty. Two spiral scrolls, one fixed and one orbiting, compress air continuously toward the center with no pistons, no valves and no oil in the air path. It is quiet, it barely vibrates, and it delivers 15.2 SCFM at 100 PSIG.

Why scroll
Scroll compression is continuous instead of pulsed, so the air leaves smoothly and the pump itself produces very little vibration or noise compared with a reciprocating pump of the same output. That makes a scroll plant practical inside an occupied building rather than banished to a mechanical room. Note the pressure ceiling: 116 PSIG maximum, so this air end suits 100 PSIG systems and is not a drop-in for a 175 PSIG two-stage application.
