Parker PS506P Automatic Float Drain Kit for Prep-Air II Filters and Filter/Regulators

The Parker PS506P is the genuine automatic float drain kit for the Prep-Air II air preparation line. It replaces the manual twist drain in the bottom of a filter or filter/regulator bowl so collected condensate is expelled on its own, with no operator and no daily walk-around.

How it works

Liquid collecting in the bowl raises an internal float. At a set level the float unseats the valve and the trapped condensate is pushed out through the drain stem, then the valve reseats. A manual override push rod on the underside lets you dump the bowl by hand whenever you want to.

In the older Watts numbering that covers the F602 and F701 filters in both compact (1/4, 3/8, 1/2 in.) and standard (3/4 in.) bodies. The PS512 twist drain is the manual alternative in the same family.

Why fit an automatic drain

A manual drain cock only works when somebody remembers it. A filter bowl left to fill will carry liquid water straight downstream into tools, cylinders and spray guns, and in an unheated plant a full bowl is the thing that cracks in January. The PS506P is the single cheapest upgrade you can make to an existing Parker filter station, and because it is the factory kit it seats in the same bowl thread with no adapters.
