Motor Guard Sub-Micronic Compressed Air Filter, M-30 and M-60, 0.01 Micron
The Motor Guard filter is the last line of defence before a paint gun or a plasma torch. It uses a dense cellulose element, which is why everyone calls it the toilet paper filter, and it pulls oil aerosols, condensed moisture and sub micronic particles down to 0.01 micron out of the air. A standard shop filter does not get close to that, and the difference shows up as fisheyes in paint and short consumable life on a plasma cutter.
It is a point of use filter. Put it at the gun or the torch, not at the compressor.

Choosing between them
The M-30 has a 1/4 in connection and ships with the mounting kit, which makes it the usual choice for a gun or torch drop on a wall or a cart. The M-60 is the 1/2 in version for a higher flow line; it does not include a mounting kit, so plan how you are hanging it before it arrives.
How to get the most out of it
This filter is a polisher, not a water trap. Give it dry air to work with: a drip leg, a decent coalescing filter and ideally a dryer upstream. Feeding it wet air from a hot compressor soaks the element in days and you will spend more on cartridges than the filter cost.
The 125 PSI ceiling matters. Shops running 150 or 175 PSI mains have to regulate down ahead of it, and that is the most common way one of these gets killed.
Replacing the element
Change the element when flow through the filter drops off. Elements are sold in a four pack as the Motor Guard M-723, which we stock, and they fit both the M-30 and the M-60. Bleed the line down before opening the housing.
