This filter-drier is a genuine Chicago Pneumatic replacement part for the refrigeration circuit of a refrigerated air dryer. It sits in the refrigerant line and does two jobs at once: it traps particles and debris, and its desiccant core adsorbs any moisture that has found its way into the system.
Keeping the refrigerant clean and dry protects the refrigeration compressor and the metering device from damage and helps the dryer hold a steady dew point. A filter-drier is normally replaced any time the sealed system is opened for service.
