This is the replacement coalescing cartridge for the ACF65B position in the ACF in-line filter range. Coalescing media takes fine oil and water aerosol out of compressed air by merging droplets until they are heavy enough to drain, work that neither a particulate filter nor a dryer performs.
Put coalescing filtration ahead of whatever you are protecting. It is the stage that keeps liquid off carbon beds, out of instrument lines and away from finished surfaces, and it does its best work on air that has already been cooled and dried by your air dryers. Comparable cartridges for other housings are collected under coalescing filters and elements.
Differential pressure is the thing to watch. As the element loads with solids the drop rises, and that pressure drop is paid for in compressor energy every hour the machine runs. Within the ACF range the trailing letter marks the media grade rather than the size, so ACF65B and ACF65D fit the same bowl but are not the same part. Order to the code on the cartridge you remove.
