DV Systems Element - Adsorber - DF18V
This is a replacement activated carbon adsorber element sized for the DV Systems DF18V filter housing. A carbon adsorber does a different job than a particulate or coalescing cartridge. Instead of straining droplets and solids out of the stream, the carbon bed holds oil vapor and the odor that travels with it, which is how the last traces of compressor lubricant come out of the air once the mechanical stages have done their part.
Carbon belongs downstream, never first in line. Bulk water and liquid oil saturate a carbon bed quickly, so a healthy coalescing filter element needs to be working ahead of it, and drier inlet air from your air dryers will stretch the life of every carbon cartridge you buy.
Carbon is also the one element you change on a schedule rather than on a gauge reading. It does not plug the way a coalescing element does, so differential pressure never tells you it is spent. Pick a calendar interval and hold to it. When you order, match the code stamped on the cartridge you are pulling out, since the V suffix marks a specific build that is not interchangeable with other DF18 variants.
