This is a replacement activated carbon bag for the Donaldson and Aircel OS-2200 oil and water separator. The bag is the consumable inside the separator vessel and is changed out on its own, leaving the housing in place.
An oil and water separator handles condensate that has already been drained out of the compressed air system, not the air stream itself. Condensate leaving a compressor, receiver or filter bowl carries oil, and the separator holds it while the carbon takes up the oil so the remaining water can be discharged. Local rules govern what may go to drain, so check the requirements that apply to your site.
Since the amount of condensate a system produces depends on how much moisture is being pulled out of the air, the filtration and drying stages ahead of it matter.
