This activated carbon bag is an equivalent replacement for the Domnick Hunter ESMK1 service element used in oil and water separator units. The carbon media adsorbs the lubricant carried in condensate drained from a compressed air system, so the water leaving the separator is far cleaner than what entered it.
Carbon is a consumable and it has a finite capacity. Once the media is saturated it stops holding oil and simply passes it through, which is why separator bags are replaced on a set schedule rather than run to failure. Changing on time keeps a condensate treatment program doing the job it was installed to do.
This bag treats drained condensate and is not a substitute for filtering the air itself. For that side of the system, see our compressed air filters and the range of coalescing air filters.
