The AKG DCS16 sits one step up from the DCS10 in AKG's Cool-Line DCS series. Same construction, a bar and plate brazed aluminum core behind a single DC fan, with more face area and a larger fan motor to match. It is sized for portable and truck mounted compressors that have outgrown the smallest cooler but do not need the physical bulk of a DCS20. Running off the machine's 12 or 24 volt system, it pulls the discharge temperature down so water condenses at the cooler instead of in the hose.
Inlet and Outlet Connections
These are SAE ports, not NPT. AKG uses straight thread O-ring boss connections across the DCS line. An ORB port seals on an o-ring against a machined flat face, which holds up to the vibration of mobile equipment far better than tapered pipe thread.

A #16 male ORB to female NPT adapter is a stock hydraulic fitting if you would rather source it locally than pay for the factory option.
Fan Motor Data
A single brushed DC motor, ordered in 12 or 24 volt. AKG rates the fan IP69K with a published 8,000 hour life. Power comes in on a pigtail about 15 in long terminated in a Packard connector. The female half ships with the cooler; the male mating connector does not.

AKG publishes current draw rather than a wattage rating, so the figures above are current times nominal voltage. Note the gap between the 10 A running draw and the 35 A recommended fuse: size the circuit to the fuse value so motor inrush does not blow it on every start.

DCS45 and DCS60 are dual fan units and include the feet mounting bracket set as standard. DCS10 through DCS20 use a composite shroud; DCS30 and up use steel.
How AKG Model Codes Are Built
A full part number reads model size, then motor voltage, then bypass, then any custom feature. A 30 HP cooler in 12 volt with a 65 PSI bypass and a 140 F switch is DCS30-12-BP65-TC140.

Sizing and Lead Time
Pick an aftercooler by the approach temperature you want to hit, not by matching a compressor's CFM to a model number. Wider approach, lower cost, more water left in the air. Tighter approach, more water knocked out before it travels. If the machine runs continuous duty or works in high ambient, size up rather than down.
AKG builds these to order and stocks no finished units, so every DCS carries a build lead time. Send us the compressor model, discharge CFM and pressure, your working ambient and the system voltage, and we will size it and quote the lead time with it.
