Conrader Airline-Style Throttle Control — Gas Engine Air Compressors (Honda, Kohler, Kubota, Subaru/Robin)

The Conrader airline-style throttle control is an automatic idle (auto-idle) control for gas-engine-driven air compressors running in continuous-run operation. Working with a pilot valve and unloader valve, it slows the engine to idle when the tank reaches cut-out pressure and returns it to full speed on cut-in — saving fuel and extending the life of both the engine and the compressor pump.

How it works

An airline tube connects the pilot valve to the throttle control mounted on the engine. When the compressor reaches unload (cut-out) pressure, the pilot valve sends a pneumatic signal to the throttle control, which extends and pulls the engine throttle to idle. As air is used and pressure drops to the load (cut-in) point, the signal is released and the control retracts, returning the engine to running speed.
