This spin-on air/oil separator is offered as an equivalent for Chicago Pneumatic 6221-3730-50. Everything is contained in one threaded canister, which keeps the changeout short and avoids handling loose elements or seals.
Its job is oil recovery. The separator coalesces oil mist out of the air leaving the airend and drains it back to the sump so the discharge air stays clean. Once the media loads up, pressure drop rises and carryover follows, so it is swapped on hours during routine service.
