N404099 is a Chicago Pneumatic air/oil separator part number, and this listing supplies an equivalent replacement for it. In a rotary screw compressor the separator receives the air/oil mixture leaving the airend, holds back the oil so it can drain to the sump, and lets the air continue downstream.
Leaving a separator in past its service life is a quiet expense. Loaded media raises the differential pressure the compressor works against, and oil that slips through adds load to the filters after it. Replacing on the recommended interval protects both efficiency and downstream air quality.
