Champion Z614 is the complete factory valve set for the Champion R70 and PL70 two-stage reciprocating pump. It replaces all eight valve assemblies in the pump in one part number and includes the full complement of valve gaskets, so a valve job can be done in a single service visit without chasing individual components.

Any Champion unit built on the R70 or R70A pump, including the 25 HP Advantage Series tank-mounted, base-mounted and duplex models such as HRA25-12, VRA25-12, BRA25 and the R70 simplex and duplex packages. Confirm the pump casting before ordering: the PL70 shares this valve set, the R40 and PL40 use Z656 instead.

When To Replace The Valves
- Falling delivered CFM or a pump that will no longer build to cut-out pressure
- Interstage pressure reading high or low against the nameplate figure, which points to a leaking low pressure discharge or high pressure intake valve
- Excessive discharge temperature or heat radiating back through the intake filter
- Air blowing back out of the intake filter with the compressor running
- Carbon build-up found on the valve plates at a scheduled inspection
Champion calls for a valve inspection every 1,000 operating hours on R-Series pumps. Replace the intake filter element and change the crankcase oil at the same time so a new set of valves is not immediately loaded with carbon.

Do I need to buy gaskets separately? No. Z614 ships with 6 low pressure and 8 high pressure valve gaskets.
Can I replace just one valve? Yes, the individual assemblies Z273, Z274, Z784 and Z785 are available on their own. Champion recommends replacing the full set so all eight valves have matched wear and the pump returns to rated capacity.
Does this fit the R40 pump? No. The R40 and PL40 take valve set Z656.
