These cartridges fit the 50 and 100 CFM CHWS units, which use the spin-on design. The larger CHWS-250 uses a use up and replace molecular sieve strategy instead and does not take these cartridges.

Spin-On, Spin-Off Service

The whole point of the small CHWS design is that a media change takes a minute and no tools. Spin the spent cartridge off, spin the new one on, and the unit is back in service. There is no bed to scoop out, no carbon to vacuum and no drip pan to manage. The spent cartridge goes out through your normal waste management service.

When to Change It

Change on your facility's schedule rather than waiting for a visible symptom. An adsorption cartridge that has reached capacity does not usually announce itself: the discharge simply starts carrying hydrocarbon again. The practical approach is to draw a sample from the outlet periodically, compare it against clean tap water, and set an interval from what you observe. A shop running high carryover, an oversized compressor into an undersized unit, or a humid summer will get through cartridges faster than the label interval suggests.

Which cartridge do I need?

Match the unit. A CHWS-50 takes the CHWS-E50 and a CHWS-100 takes the CHWS-E100. They are not interchangeable, and the larger cartridge will not extend a smaller unit's capacity.

Will these fit my CHWS-250?

No. The CHWS-250 uses a use up and replace molecular sieve design rather than a spin-on cartridge.

Can I still get a complete CHWS-50 or CHWS-100?

The current Champion air treatment price list prices these two cartridges but only the CHWS-250 as a complete unit. Call us for availability and pricing on the smaller complete units, or ask us about the equivalent CH7 and Intelli-PAK options.

How do I dispose of the spent cartridge?

Through your local waste management service, following your jurisdiction's rules for oil-saturated media. Your waste hauler can tell you whether it is classified as non-hazardous in your area.

Do I need to shut anything down to change it?

Isolate the drain lines feeding the unit, spin the cartridge off and the new one on, then reopen. The compressor itself does not need to stop.
