Service Interval
Replace annually, or whenever the differential pressure indicator shows a 5 PSID rise above clean, whichever comes first. Check more often in the first weeks after a desiccant dryer is commissioned or recharged, because a fresh bed sheds noticeably more dust while the beads polish against each other. If the indicator is climbing fast on a mature dryer, that is a signal worth investigating: it usually means the bed is breaking down and the desiccant itself is due for replacement.

My afterfilter element is grey and dusty. Is that normal?
Yes, that is exactly what it is there for. Grey powder on the outer surface is abraded desiccant. Heavy caking within a few months on a dryer that is not newly commissioned suggests the desiccant bed needs attention.
Can I blow the element out and reuse it?
No. Back-blowing drives fines deeper into the media and can rupture it. Replace it.
Can I use a Grade C element instead?
It will fit the family but it is the wrong flow direction for dust service and will plug much sooner. Use the Grade D.
Do I need to depressurize before changing an element?
Always. Isolate the filter and bleed it to zero pressure before opening the bowl.
