This start capacitor is a genuine Chicago Pneumatic replacement part that gives a single-phase electric motor the extra torque it needs to begin turning. During start-up the capacitor stores and releases energy to the motor start winding, then drops out of the circuit once the motor reaches running speed.
A failed start capacitor is a common reason a motor hums but will not start, or trips its overload. Fitting the correct capacitor restores reliable starting and protects the motor from repeated strain.
