This equivalent mist eliminator element replaces Busch part number 532.105.216. On an oil lubricated vacuum pump the exhaust air leaves the pumping chamber loaded with a fine oil mist, and this element is what pulls that mist back out so the oil returns to the sump instead of venting into the plant.
Element condition has a direct effect on how the pump runs. Media that has loaded up restricts the exhaust path, and the resulting back pressure raises operating temperature and shortens oil life. Changing the element before it reaches that point is far cheaper than dealing with degraded oil and the wear that follows it.
