This coalescing element is an equivalent replacement for BOGE KOMPRESSOREN part number 575051060. Coalescing media works by forcing compressed air through a fine fibre matrix so that the tiny oil and water droplets suspended in the stream merge into larger drops, which then drain to the bottom of the filter housing and out through the drain.
Filter media is a wear item. As it loads with contaminant, the pressure drop across the housing climbs and the compressor has to run harder to hold the same working pressure, which shows up directly on the power bill. Most plants change coalescing media on an annual schedule, or sooner if the differential pressure indicator says the element is loaded.
