The nano BHD Breathing Air Twin Tower Desiccant Purification Dryer turns ordinary plant compressed air into a clean, safe, breathable air supply that meets OSHA Grade D (US) and CSA Z180.1-13 (Canada) standards. It removes moisture and reduces hazardous carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) to safe levels, and includes a high-quality CO monitor as standard so operators always know the air is safe. The BHD range covers 50 to 1,000 SCFM inlet flow, making it ideal wherever workers rely on supplied-air respirators.
How the BHD makes breathing-quality air
- Compressed air first passes through a mounted high-quality coalescing prefilter to strip bulk liquid and aerosols.
- Twin desiccant towers dry the air to a low dew point, while a low-temperature oxidation catalyst converts CO to CO2 and the system reduces CO2 to safe levels.
- An activated carbon after-filter removes odors and oil vapor, and a particulate final filter polishes the air.
- A continuous CO monitor watches the outlet, and the NEMA 4 controller manages the cycle and alarms so only safe, Grade D air is delivered.
How to select your system
Size the BHD by your required breathing-air demand. Note that the rated outlet flow is about 80% of the inlet flow (for example, BHD-100 accepts 100 SCFM inlet and supplies 80 SCFM outlet), because a portion of air is used for desiccant regeneration. Match your peak respirator demand to the model's outlet flow, confirm the inlet connection size, and verify your supply pressure falls within 60 to 175 psig.

Frequently asked questions
Does the BHD meet OSHA breathing air requirements?
Yes. The BHD is engineered to deliver air that meets OSHA Grade D (US) and CSA Z180.1-13 (Canada) breathing air standards, and it includes a CO monitor as standard for continuous verification.
How does it remove carbon monoxide?
The system uses a low-temperature oxidation catalyst that converts CO to CO2, combined with drying and filtration, to bring the air within safe breathing limits. The integrated CO monitor alarms if levels rise.
Why is the outlet flow lower than the inlet flow?
A portion of the compressed air is used to regenerate the desiccant, so rated outlet (breathing air) flow is about 80% of inlet. Size the unit by the outlet flow you need at the respirator.
What is included?
Each BHD is an all-in-one package: coalescing prefilter, twin desiccant towers, activated carbon after-filter, particulate final filter, CO monitor and NEMA 4 controller, all mounted and ready to install.
What supply pressure and temperature does it need?
The BHD operates on 60 to 175 psig with inlet air from 40 to 100°F and ambient from 38 to 105°F. Ensure adequate upstream compression and drainage for best performance.
