An equivalent replacement air/oil separator element for Becker pump part 965402. Gebr. Becker builds oil-flooded rotary vane vacuum pumps and compressors, and the separator is the element that keeps the circulating oil inside the machine instead of letting it leave with the exhaust.
Inside an oil-flooded pump the oil does three jobs at once: it seals the vanes, carries away heat and lubricates. On the discharge side that oil leaves as a fine mist, and the separator element coalesces the mist back into liquid so it can drain to the reservoir. A worn or plugged separator shows up as visible oil carryover, faster oil consumption and a rising pressure differential across the element.
