Frame size note, please read before ordering
This is the one rating in the EM31 series where the 200 volt motor is not built on the same frame as its 230/460V counterpart. The 230/460V EM3157T is a 145T frame; this 200V EM3157T-8 is a 143T frame, and Baldor gives it a different motor type number (3528M against 3526M). Baldor's own catalog description line and spec table disagree with each other on this point, listing 145T in one place and 143T in another. The nameplate reads 143T, which is the figure published here. A 143T and a 145T share bolt hole spacing across the width but differ in foot length, so check your base before you order.
Enclosure and duty
Baldor prints the enclosure as code OPSB and does not spell the code out. It is an open construction: the data sheet lists no drip cover and no rodent screen, and distributors commonly describe it as open drip proof.
Baldor lists the EM3157T-8 in its General Purpose product family. It is not a manufacturer designated compressor duty motor. Check full load amps and service factor against your load before specifying it.
Typical applications
The 200 volt winding exists for plants on a 200 volt three-phase service, where a motor nameplated 230V would be running well below its design voltage and drawing more current than it should.
