When the slurry flow demand outgrows the L50N but the install hasn't reached full industrial scale, the Atlas Copco WEDA L60N is a 12.1 HP submersible slurry pump engineered to move abrasive, solids-laden liquids across the heaviest applications in mining, quarrying, dredging, and industrial mineral processing.
Why a Slurry Pump?
If you've worn out a dewatering or sludge pump on quarry water, sand-and-gravel pit runoff, or any application that mixes abrasive solids into the flow, the answer is almost always: you bought the wrong pump category. Drainage and sludge pumps are designed around solids passage; slurry pumps are designed around solids survival. The WEDA L-series uses hardened wear plates, urethane-lined volutes (on larger models), and a multi-vane semi-open impeller in high-chrome cast iron — every wetted surface is treated as a replaceable wear component.

Engineering Highlights
- High-chrome cast-iron impeller — multi-vane semi-open design, ~65 HRC, optimized for solids up to 1"
- Hardened wear plate at the impeller inlet — replaceable in the field as a single sacrificial component
- Double mechanical seal in stainless cartridge with oil-bath barrier between the seals
- 1,750 RPM operation — lower shaft speed extends wear life vs. the higher-RPM dewatering and sludge models
- Class F motor insulation with thermal protection in every winding
- Cable entry sealed against fluid ingress — eliminates the most common failure mode of submersible pumps
- Aluminum-alloy upper housing for corrosion resistance; cast-iron and high-chrome wear parts where it matters
Common Applications
- Active mining operations — main shaft sump pumping, mill feed slurry, tailings line transfer
- Quarry and aggregate operations of every size
- Industrial mineral processing — cement raw mill slurry, lime mud transfer
- Sand and gravel — large wash plants, dewatering screen feed
- Mid-scale dredging operations and harbor maintenance
- Power plant ash and slag handling
- Pulp and paper mill consistency-control pumping
- Oil and gas drilling-mud return at larger pads
How the WEDA L60N Fits in the L-Series
The L-series spans from the 5 HP L40N up to the 101 HP L110N. The L60N sits in the heart of the contractor-grade L-series — high enough to handle serious industrial slurry duty, but small enough to be deployed by a single crew without specialized lifting equipment.
Built for Long Service Intervals
Slurry pumps are wear-driven assets. The WEDA L-series is engineered to show wear (so you can predict service intervals) rather than fail unexpectedly. Service kits cover the impeller, wear plate, double-seal cartridge, motor end-cap rebuild, and cable assembly.
