Prevost PPS1 9C Aluminum 90 Degree Compression Elbow for Air Pipe
The PPS1 9C is the 90 degree elbow for the Prevost PPS aluminum piping system, with a compression socket on both ends so it joins two lengths of Prevost blue pipe without threading, welding or glue. It is sold in every PPS size from 1/2 inch through 4 inch outside diameter; order the size that matches the pipe, not the thread size of whatever is at the end of the run.
Where it goes
Use it at the corners of a loop and at the top of each drop where the main turns down the wall. Where the line needs to end in a threaded port instead of turning, use a compression to male NPT fitting rather than an elbow and an adapter. Every elbow adds a little pressure drop, so route the main with as few turns as you can and put a support bracket within a foot or so of each one so the fitting does not carry the weight of the pipe.
Installation
Cut the pipe square, chamfer and deburr the end with the Prevost chamfering tool so the seal is not scored, seat the pipe fully in the socket and tighten the compression nut. No sealant goes on the pipe. The joint can be undone and remade if the layout changes, which is one of the reasons to pick aluminum over black iron.
