AirComParts Pull Cable Tank Drain Valve, 1/4 in. NPT
The drain nobody uses is the one you have to lie on the floor to reach. A cable drain puts the valve at the bottom of the tank where it belongs and the handle somewhere you can get at it standing up.
- S1252, 1/4 in. NPT, standard
- S1250, 1/4 in. NPT, heavy duty
Route the cable so it pulls in a straight line out of the valve. Tight bends bind the cable and the valve stops closing fully, which is worse than no drain at all because you will not notice the constant bleed until the pressure switch starts cycling. Leave enough slack that the cable is not under tension at rest.
Drain with 10 to 20 PSI left in the tank so the air pushes the water out, then open fully and let it blow clear.
