AirComParts Load Genie Self-Unloading Check Valve, 1/4 in. NPT x 3/8 in. Compression
A Load Genie does two jobs in one brass body. It is a check valve, so it holds tank pressure back when the pump stops. It is also an unloader, and this is the part that makes it worth fitting: it vents the discharge line to atmosphere whenever air stops flowing through it, with no pilot line, no electrical signal and nothing to time. Flow stops, it dumps. The compressor always restarts against an empty head.
S1036 is the 1/4 in. male NPT x 3/8 in. compression size. It interchanges with the Control Devices CA-6 and the Milton 1097-6, which are the same valve under different labels.
What it replaces
The conventional arrangement is a check valve plus a separate unloader tube running back to the pressure switch, with a bleed port in the switch itself. That works until the tube kinks, the fitting weeps, or the switch's bleed passage gums up with oil. Then the pump tries to start against a head full of pressure, the motor stalls, and you are resetting an overload every morning. A Load Genie removes the tube and the switch bleed from the equation entirely, which is also why it suits gas engine compressors and continuous run setups where there is no pressure switch to bleed through.

Both connections are male. The 3/8 in. compression end takes copper tube with a ferrule and nut; the 1/4 in. end is male pipe thread into the pump head or manifold.
Fitting it
Bleed the tank to zero first. The valve is directional, so note the arrow and get the inlet on the pump side. Sealant on the pipe thread only, never on the compression side, because that joint seals on the ferrule. Keep the copper run as short and as straight as the layout allows, and do not overtighten the nut on soft tube.
One thing to expect: it hisses briefly every time the compressor shuts down. That is the unloader doing its job, not a leak.
