AirComParts High Temperature Shutdown Switch, 215 F to 235 F, 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. NPT
This is the part that stops the machine before the machine stops itself. A rotary screw running away on temperature will cook the separator element, varnish the fluid and, given long enough, seize an airend that costs more than the rest of the compressor put together.
The four variants
- S2003, 3/8 in. NPT, 215 F, 0.698 in. probe, screw terminals
- S2004, 3/8 in. NPT, 235 F, 1.135 in. probe, screw terminals
- S2005, 1/2 in. NPT, 230 F, 1.135 in. probe, 6 in. wire leads
- S2002, 1/2 in. NPT, 230 F, 2.5 in. probe, 48 in. wire leads
Three things have to match
Thread, set point and probe length, and the probe length is the one that gets missed. Too short and the tip never reaches the fluid, so the switch reads the housing instead and trips late or not at all. Too long and it fouls something inside. Measure the old probe before ordering.
The 48 in. leads on S2002 are there for when the switch sits well away from the panel. Screw terminals are easier to service in place.
What we cannot tell you
ACP does not publish an electrical rating, a contact arrangement or the reset behaviour for these, beyond S2002 being documented as a 230 F set point closing at 195 F. If you are wiring one into a control circuit and need the contact rating, call us before you order and we will get it from the manufacturer rather than guess at it here.
NOTE: Actual product may be different from pictured!
