AirComParts EC5H8 5 HP Two-Stage Air Compressor - 80 Gallon Horizontal, 175 PSI, 16-17 CFM, EC5 Pump
The AirComParts EC5H8 is a 5 HP two-stage reciprocating air compressor mounted on an 80 gallon horizontal ASME tank, built around the ACS EC5 cast iron pump. It is a shop-duty machine for automotive bays, fabrication shops, tire service and general plant air, in the size range where a single-stage compressor runs out of pressure.
Two-stage compression squeezes the air twice, with an intercooler between the low-pressure and high-pressure cylinders, so the pump reaches a full 175 PSI without the heat and wear a single-stage pump takes to get there. The horizontal tank keeps the overall height down where ceiling clearance or a mezzanine is the constraint.
Key specifications
- Horsepower: 5 HP
- Pump: EC5, two-stage, belt driven, cast iron
- Delivery: 16 CFM at 175 PSI on single phase, 17 CFM at 175 PSI on three phase

- Tank: 80 gallon horizontal, ASME coded, made in the USA, supplied with safety valve and drain valve
- Weight: 780 lb. Add approximately 100 lb for crated shipping weight
- Available power: 230V single phase, or 208V, 230V and 460V three phase
- Belt guard: all metal
Choosing your configuration
- Basic Unit includes the pump, belt guard, ASME tank and electric motor. It does not include the motor starter, which an industrial motor requires for proper cycling.
- With Starter Unit adds a motor starter, mounted and wired ready for use.
- Package Unit adds the mounted motor starter plus a beltguard-mounted aftercooler and an automatic tank drain.
The aftercooler on the Package Unit cools the discharge air and removes roughly 75 percent of its moisture before it reaches the tank, which is the cheapest water control you can buy on a reciprocating compressor. The automatic tank drain discharges condensate on its own, which protects the tank and keeps full air storage available.
Why the three-phase Basic Unit covers two voltages
The 230V and 460V three-phase Basic Units share one part number, E1012, because the motor is dual-voltage 230/460V and the starter, which is the component that fixes the supply voltage, is not part of a Basic Unit. The 208V three-phase Basic Unit, E10128, is a separate part number. On the With Starter and Package configurations every voltage has its own part number because the starter is matched to the supply.
Typical applications
Automotive service bays running impact tools and lifts, body and paint shops, welding and fabrication benches, tire service, woodworking shops, and general plant air where a steady 175 PSI supply is needed from a permanent install.
Options we can add
Beltguard-mounted aftercoolers, special electrical enclosures, TEFC or explosion-proof motors, special voltages and starter configurations, a low-range 30 to 40 PSI pressure switch, and dryers, filters, regulators or coalescers. These units are built to order, so talk to us before you buy if you need the package configured a particular way.
The AirComParts EC5H8 pairs a 5 HP motor with a 175 PSI two-stage EC5 pump and an 80 gallon horizontal ASME tank, in Basic, With Starter and full Package configurations across 230V single-phase and 208/230/460V three-phase. Need the same machine on a vertical tank to save floor space? The EC5V8 uses the identical pump and motor on an 80 gallon vertical tank.
